The concert band I play in was having a summer pool party. I have SO many ideas for pool cakes, and I’d love to revisit the subject, but this is the one I ended up going with for them.
New techniques for this cake
I draped gum paste over a couple of styrofoam shapes to get the modern deck chairs. I made the towels from fondant. I used lime wedge candies for pillows. Skor bits and jelly beans were used for landscaping.
For the side of the cake, I decided to use fondant squares that I pressed to shape with a pill bottle.
